Joldersma Leads 4-Seed IWU to Sweep of Cornerstone

SIOUX CITY, IA — Indiana Wesleyan Women's Volleyball secured a decisive 3-0 victory over Cornerstone on Wednesday at the Tyson Events Center in Pool Play of the NAIA Women's Volleyball Championship presented by Marriott South Sioux City Riverfront and Explore Siouxland, with set scores of 25-13, 25-20, and 25-18. Indiana Wesleyan recorded 46 kills and eight service aces to dominate the match. Eva Joldersma led the Wildcats with a double-double, recording 17 kills on a .342 hitting percentage and 11 digs.

SET ONE

  • Indiana Wesleyan established an early rhythm, moving ahead 5-3 with kills from Marissa Mullins and Eva Joldersma.    
  • A service ace by Cadee Notter extended the home team's advantage to 11-6, maintaining their momentum.  
  • CU called a timeout trailing 16-9 after a service ace from Autumn Colehour, but the Wildcats' lead remained secure.    
  •  Indiana Wesleyan closed the set strongly, converting on an attack error by Aubrey Johnson to secure a 25-13 victory.  

 

SET TWO 

  • The red and grey surged ahead 5-1 early, highlighted by a service ace from Dayessi Luis at 1-3.  
  • A series of attack errors by the Golden Eagles allowed Indiana Wesleyan to extend their lead to 11-6.  
  • CU rallied to close the gap to 17-16, led by Josilyn Potter's consecutive kills.   
  •  IWU maintained composure, closing the set on a Shae Williams kill to win 25-20.

 

SET THREE 

  • Cornerstone gained an early 8-4 lead with a service ace from Olivia Endris and several Indiana Wesleyan attack errors.  
  • The Wildcats mounted a comeback, tying the score at 14-14 after capitalizing on an attack error by Gabby VerBerkmoes and a kill from Joldersma.  
  • A service ace by Marin Sanchez and a subsequent ace from Joldersma propelled IWU to a 21-17 advantage.   
  •  Indiana Wesleyan closed the set with a decisive 4-1 run, finishing with a kill by Mullins and an attack error by Potter to win 25-18.
