Marian’s Trevino Voted CL Male Athlete of the Year
JACKSON, Mich. – The Crossroads League announced on Wednesday that Tristan Trevino of the Marian University men's cross country and track and field programs had been named the 2025-2026 CL Male Athlete of the Year.
Trevino becomes the third different MU track and field student-athlete to win the honor in the past three years, following Christian Rios and Isaiah Tipping in collecting the prestigious honor for the Knights.
Trevino led Marian to a seventh-straight indoor and a sixth-straight outdoor Crossroads League Championship in track and field, while helping the Knights claim a second-straight NAIA Indoor Track and Field National Championship for the program's third team title in the last two seasons. In addition to the team title, Trevino collected four individual national titles, doing so in the indoor mile, indoor distance-medley relay, indoor 4x800-meter relay and outdoor 4x800-meter relay.
Along with the team and individual titles, Trevino took NAIA All-American recognition in five events, was an individual Crossroads League Champion in the indoor 800-meters and outdoor 1,500-meters and raced to four All-Crossroads League honors.
Trevino also did exceptional work in the classroom, earning Academic All-Crossroads League honors and being selected as a CSC Academic All-American.
"Tristan is the kind of student-athlete every coach hopes to have in their program," said Marian track and field head coach Katie Wise. "This recognition is a reflection of the countless hours he has invested behind the scenes and the consistency he has shown every single day. His success did not happen overnight. It came from his commitment to doing the little things right, trusting the process and showing up with the same mindset whether it was practice or competition. What I am most proud of is not just what Tristan accomplished on the track, but the person he is. He is a tremendous teammate, leads by example, and genuinely cares about the success of those around him. Being voted Athlete of the Year by the Crossroads League is an incredible honor, and I could not be happier to see Tristan receive this well deserved recognition."
The Crossroads League Male Student-Athlete of the Year award is nominated and voted on by the 10 Athletic Directors from the Crossroads League and announced each summer.
