JACKSON, Mich. – The Crossroads League Athletes of the Week were announced on Monday, recognizing the league's top individual performances from April 20 through 26. Sports Information Directors from the league institutions nominate student-athletes for the awards and vote on each week's winners.
Baseball Player of the Week
Owen Willard, Huntington
Willard led RV Huntington to a series win at MVNU, hitting .563 for the Foresters and adding four home runs, three doubles and 12 runs batted in. Willard also scored eight times and had eight hits over the final three games, all HU victories.
Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Nathan Frady, Taylor
Frady fired seven shutout innings for No. 1 Taylor in its 6-5 win at No. 24 Marian to clinch the CL Championship. Frady entered the game in the sixth inning and held MU scoreless with just four hits, no walks and seven strikeouts until the Trojans won in 12.
Softball Player of the Week
Abby Robakowski, Saint Francis
Robakowski batted .588 for RV Saint Francis over the final six games of the Cougars' regular season. The junior slugger swatted four more extra-base hits, including two home runs and drove in five runs, while scoring six of her own.
Softball Pitcher of the Week
Macy Coan, Marian
Coan worked a trio of complete games in the circle for Marian, helping the Knights to key victories in each outing. The junior picked up 18 strikeouts in her 22 innings and posted a 2.23 ERA and a 1.00 WHIP.
Women's Tennis Player of the Week
Michelle Irigoyen, Marian
Irigoyen went 4-0 in her matches during the Crossroads League Tournament, helping Marian secure the title. The junior went 3-0 at No. 2 doubles and won her lone singles contest.
Men's Tennis Player of the Week
Manuel Marques, Grace
Marques won five matches for Grace during its run to the Crossroads League Tournament Championship. The junior was 2-0 at No. 4 singles and 3-0 in doubles play for the Lancers.
Men's Golfer of the Week
Lane Zedrick, Marian
Zedrick took first place at the Sagamore Shootout and helped Marian secure the team crown by shooting rounds of 69 and 71.
Women's Outdoor TF Track Athlete of the Week
Emma Edwards, Marian
Edwards hit auto-qualifying marks in the 400 and 4x400-relay for Marian, breaking her own MU record in the 400 with a time of 54.91 and helping the Knights to a time of 3:47.40 in the 4x400.
Men's Outdoor TF Track Athlete of the Week
Lamarr Williams, Bethel
Williams automatically qualified for NAIA Nationals in the 100 and 200-meters at the GVSU Extra Weekend. The Bethel sophomore ran winning times of 10.22 in the 100 and 20.76 in the 200.
Men's Outdoor TF Field Athlete of the Week
Marzeion Jones, Marian
Jones provisionally qualified for Nationals in the triple jump by finishing second at the Jim Freeman Open with a mark of 14.67.
