JACKSON, Mich. – The Crossroads League Athletes of the Week were announced on Monday, recognizing the league's top individual performances from March 30 through April 5. Sports Information Directors from the league institutions nominate student-athletes for the awards and vote on each week's winners.
Baseball Player of the Week
River Pecina, Marian
Pecina had a huge week at the plate for RV Marian, going 11-of-17 with five home runs and eight extra-base hits for a slash line of .647/.682/1.706. The freshman knocked in 16 runs in his five games and scored 10 times.
Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Brody Fine, Taylor
Fine moved to 7-0 on the bump this season after tossing five scoreless innings in a 15-2 win over Saint Francis for No. 1 Taylor. The senior fanned seven and allowed just one hit in the contest, while taking the win.
Softball Player of the Week
Morgan Yeater, Indiana Wesleyan
Yeater helped Indiana Wesleyan to a 5-0 week by hitting .632 with four multi-hit games and three outings with three hits. The senior outfielder swatted two triples, knocked in eight runs and stole four bases.
Softball Pitcher of the Week
Emilee Underwood, Spring Arbor
Underwood repeated as the CL Pitcher of the Week after going 3-1 in the circle with a 1.00 earned-run average and a 1.11 WHIP over 28.0 innings of work. Underwood fired four complete games and posted 22 strikeouts.
Women's Tennis Player of the Week
Sofia Munoz, Indiana Wesleyan
Munoz was unbeaten over three team wins for No. 21 Indiana Wesleyan, going 3-0 at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles.
Men's Tennis Player of the Week
Paulo Santiago, Goshen
Santiago went 4-0 in a pair of wins for RV Goshen, winning twice at No. 6 singles and twice at No. 3 doubles.
Women's Golfer of the Week
Ellie Webster, Bethel
Webster was Bethel's top performer at the Dalton State Spring Invite, carding rounds of 78, 82 and 81 to finish in 40th in the individual standings.
Men's Golfer of the Week
Weston Ogden, Marian
Ogden won his second tournament of the season and the fourth of his career after shooting rounds of 72 and 71 to claim medalist honors at the Midway Invite. Ogden's performance led No. 13 Marian to a runner-up team finish.
Men's Outdoor TF Track Athlete of the Week
Will Osafo, Marian
Osafo set Marian's program record in the 100-meters with a time of 10.28 and helped MU match its record in the 4x100-meter relay with a mark of 40.26. Osafo collected wins and NAIA-A standards in each event.
Men's Outdoor TF Field Athlete of the Week
Ridge Willard, Indiana Wesleyan
Willard posted the season's fourth-highest pole vault mark in the NAIA with a height of 4.90 meters for Indiana Wesleyan at the Indiana Tech Invite. The senior's effort cleared the NAIA-A standard for the event.
Women's Outdoor TF Track Athlete of the Week
Kyla Bradberry, Marian
Bradberry helped Marian provisionally qualify for NAIA Nationals in the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 47.07 and also finished runner-up in the 200-meters at the ISU Invite.
Women's Outdoor TF Field Athlete of the Week
Delaney Teachnor, Marian
Teachnor hit the NAIA-B mark in the pole vault at the ISU Invite. The Marian sophomore cleared a height of 3.75 meters to finish third in the event.
