JACKSON, Mich. – The Crossroads League Athletes of the Week were announced on Monday, recognizing the league's top individual performances from March 9 through March 15. Sports Information Directors from the league institutions nominate student-athletes for the awards and vote on each week's winners.
Baseball Player of the Week
Brennan Frickel, Taylor
Frickel went 12-of-18 at the plate over six games for No. 3 Taylor, hitting .667 with four extra-base hits and five multi-hit games. The senior did not strike out, while hitting two home runs, driving in 11 and scoring eight runs.
Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Adam Walters, Bethel
Walters fired a complete game against Goshen in a 3-1 win for the Pilots. The senior fanned 11 batters and did not allow an earned run in his eight innings of work.
Softball Player of the Week
Brylee Bilger, Indiana Wesleyan
Bilger powered RV Indiana Wesleyan to a 4-0 week by hitting .667 with four home runs and three doubles in 12 at bats. The senior slugged 1.917 while driving in 12 runs and swatting four home runs.
Softball Pitcher of the Week
Ellie Sauder, Saint Francis
Sauder went 2-0 in the circle for Saint Francis, allowing just two earned runs and nine hits over 11 innings. Along with posting a 1.27 earned-run average and a 0.91 WHIP, Sauder tossed a complete game shutout against Spring Arbor.
Women's Tennis Player of the Week
Blanka Bodo, Goshen
Bodo helped Goshen to upsets of No. 19 William Woods and RV Missouri Baptist by going a combined 4-0 in the two wins at No. 2 singles and No. 2 doubles.
Men's Tennis Player of the Week
Andreas Polichronopoulos, Grace
Polichronopoulos was active atop No. 20 Grace's lineup, going 3-1 at No. 1 singles and 3-1 at No. 2 doubles for the Lancers. The sophomore highlighted his week with two wins in GC's 4-3 loss to No. 5 Cumberlands.
Women's Golfer of the Week
Magnolia Miller, Huntington
Miller won her third tournament of the season, this time taking medalist honors at the Island Pointe Collegiate with a two-round score of 154. The freshman posted rounds of 75 and 79 to lead the field by seven strokes and power Huntington to a second-place team finish.
