JACKSON, Mich. – The Crossroads League Athletes of the Week were announced on Monday, recognizing the league's top individual performances from February 23 through March 1. Sports Information Directors from the league institutions nominate student-athletes for the awards and vote on each week's winners.
Women's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week
Abbey McNally, Marian
McNally sank 16-of-20 shots from the floor in two wins over Grace and Indiana Wesleyan, averaging 21.0 points per game. McNally also netted 11.0 points per game, with double-doubles in each contest.
Women's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week
Cali Gregory, Saint Francis
Gregory helped USF past Taylor and Bethel in the first two rounds of the Crossroads League Tournament by posting 6.0 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 0.5 blocks per win.
Men's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week
Caedmon Bontrager, Indiana Wesleyan
Bontrager paced No. 4 IWU to CL Tournament wins over Saint Francis and Huntington by netting 20.5 points per game and shooting 62.5 percent from the floor. Bontrager also averaged 10.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.0 steals per win.
Men's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week
Hunter Walston, Grace
Walston led No. 2 Grace past No. 19 Bethel and Spring Arbor in the CL Tournament, averaging 2.5 steals, 1.5 blocks and 3.5 rebounds per victory.
Baseball Player of the Week
Keifer Wilson, Huntington
Wilson had nine hits and batted .563 to help Huntington to a four-game sweep of Indiana Wesleyan. The senior swatted two doubles and one home run, while driving in seven runs in the series sweep.
Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Kyler Hinken, Spring Arbor
Hinken tossed a two-hit, complete-game shutout in Spring Arbor's 8-0 win over Goshen. The junior righty fanned seven and walked two in the victory.
Softball Player of the Week
Abby Robakowski, Saint Francis
Robakowski went five-of-eight at the plate in a doubleheader split with Indiana Tech. The junior had three extra-base hits in the two games, including a home run and slugged 1.250 in the two games.
Softball Pitcher of the Week
Camryn Barrows, Goshen
Barrows started four games in the circle for Goshen, tossing three complete games and piling up 43 strikeouts in her 24 innings of work. Barrows posted a 0.58 ERA and 0.75 WHIP in those 24 innings.
Women's Tennis Player of the Week
Deah Bresson, Mount Vernon Nazarene
Bresson won 6-3, 6-0 at No. 1 singles for MVNU in its 4-3 win over Bridgewater.
Men's Tennis Player of the Week
Aziz Madatov, Spring Arbor
Madatov scored wins at No. 1 singles and No. 2 doubles to help SAU to a team win over Calvin.
