JACKSON, Mich. – The Crossroads League Athletes of the Week were announced on Tuesday, recognizing the league's top individual performances from August 25 through September 1. Sports Information Directors from the league institutions nominate student-athletes for the awards and vote on each week's winners.
Volleyball Attacker of the Week
Lyssi Snouffer, Mount Vernon Nazarene
Snouffer remained red-hot for the undefeated No. 20 Cougars, posting 4.4 kills per set with a .323 hitting percentage. The senior had at least 11 kills in all five matches and also averaged 2.3 digs and 0.6 blocks per set.
Volleyball Defender of the Week
Layla Meyer, Huntington
Meyer posted double-digit digs in all five matches for Huntington, scooping up at least 13 in each outing and recording 32 in a five-set thriller against Saint Xavier. For the week, Meyer posted 4.5 digs per set and added six service aces to her 95 digs.
Volleyball Setter of the Week
Lauren Ross, Huntington
Ross stuffed the stat sheets for Huntington through five matches, leading the Foresters to four victories. The sophomore setter posted 222 assists in the five matches, averaging 10.6 assists, 3.0 digs and 1.1 kills per set.
Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
Cassidy Felger, Grace
Felger helped Grace to a pair of lopsided shutout victories with two goals and two assists in the two wins for the unbeaten Lancers. Felger's big outing came with two goals and one assist in a 5-0 win over Rio Grande.
Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
Zoe Mueller, Grace
Mueller's play helped Grace remain unbeaten and unscored on through four matches this season, as the defensive player scored one goal and added an assist in shutout wins over Indiana Tech and Rio Grande.
Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
Dilesh Patel, Huntington
Patel dished out two goals and one assist in a 5-3 win over Holy Cross and ended the week with six total points in a win and a draw for the Foresters.
Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
Kyle Rinehart, Indiana Wesleyan
Rinehart and the No. 15 Wildcats scored wins over No. 6 MidAmerican Nazarene and Indiana Tech. The senior defenseman played all 90 minutes against Tech and helped Indiana Wesleyan post a clean sheet over the ranked MidAmerican Nazarene squad.
Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week
Victoria Clibon, Saint Francis
Clibon highlighted the season-opener for Saint Francis by finishing second overall at the Beaver Dam Invite with a 5,000-meter time of 19:19.8.
Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week
Mathew Keitany, Goshen
Keitany finished 16th-of-63 at the Valparaiso Open, competing against NCAA Division I competitors. The junior crossed with a time of 18:48.1 in the 6,000-meter race.
