JACKSON, Mich. – The Crossroads League Athletes of the Week were announced on Monday, recognizing the league's top individual performances from August 14 through 20. Sports Information Directors from the league institutions nominate student-athletes for the awards and vote on each week's winners.
Volleyball Attacker of the Week
Isabelle Greene, Bethel
Greene led RV Bethel to a 4-0 start with 3.5 kills per set with a blistering .526 attack percentage. The senior hitter tallied at least 10 kills in all four matches and also netted 0.9 blocks per set for the Pilots.
Volleyball Defender of the Week
Molly Galaszewski, Mount Vernon Nazarene
Galaszewski helped Mount Vernon Nazarene to an unbeaten opening weekend, posting 6.3 digs per set with two outings of at least 20 digs for the Cougar defense. The senior libero also added 0.6 aces per set.
Volleyball Setter of the Week
Reagan Nuss, Mount Vernon Nazarene
Nuss led Mount Vernon Nazarene to an unbeaten showing at the Big Sky Challenge in Montana with 12.6 assists, 3.0 digs, 0.4 aces and 0.4 blocks per set. Nuss also posted a .462 hitting percentage and three double-doubles.
Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
Audrey Lerch, Bethel
Lerch registered a hat trick on six shots to lead Bethel to a 4-1 win over Concordia. Included in the three goals for Lerch was the eventual game-winning score for the Pilots.
Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
Kristen Morgan, Marian
Morgan led No. 2 Marian to a 1-0 victory over Saint Ambrose, posting a clean sheet in goal for the Knights. Morgan worked all 90 minutes of the match and racked up six saves.
Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
Abdulrahman Al-Rashed, Spring Arbor
Al-Rashed led Spring Arbor to a 5-2 season-opening win over Cleary, scoring twice and assisting on a third strike for the Cougars.
Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
Mathis Neuhaus, Bethel
Neuhaus posted six saves in goal for No. 1 Bethel, posting a shutout in a 2-0 Pilot victory over Madonna to open the 2023 season.
